Hi, I'm Shontaeia, the person behind Tay's Tails and Trails.

I started this business after losing my own dog in 2024. She was my heart dog, and I could never fully trust anyone else to care for her. After hearing way too many horror stories, I realized I wanted to be the kind of sitter I was always looking for: calm, reliable, and seriously committed to animals safety and comfort.

I've been around dogs since I could walk, and today I have four cats who run the house. I've been caring for clients pets professionally since early 2025, but I was the go-to sitter for friends and family long before that. Whether it's a shy cat who needs meds or a giant dog who needs a slow walk, I'll always have them covered.

I'm certified in pet CPR and first aid, trained in animal psychology, and currently working toward a professional dog training certification. I also spent time volunteering at Spokanimal, so I've worked with pets of all kinds and temperaments.

What makes me different? I've been told my visit updates are actually worth reading, filled with plenty of notes, personality, and pictures that make you feel like you're right there. And that's my goal! For you to feel totally at peace knowing your pets are safe, understood, and truly cared for.

  • Start by filling out the inquiry form. I’ll review it, reach out by text if I have any follow-up questions, and if I think we’re a good fit, we’ll set up a meet and greet. After that, I’ll confirm payment and your booking.

  • Yes, recurring visits may be available depending on your needs and my schedule. If you’re looking for ongoing walks or drop-ins, we can talk about a routine that works well for both you and your pet.

  • Yes, all new clients are required to do a meet and greet before services begin. The only exception is for some day-before or same-day requests, depending on the situation and availability.

  • I send invoices via text. Monthly prepayment is preferred, but I'm flexible. You'll get a heads-up reminder 2 days before payment is due.

  • Visits are scheduled in time windows rather than exact arrival times. This helps me stay flexible, safe, and realistic with traffic, travel time, and each pet’s needs, while still keeping your care consistent and reliable.

Our service area

We proudly serve Spokane and Spokane Valley, with a main service radius of about 5 miles. I may travel up to 15 miles depending on schedule, but bookings outside my main radius may include an added travel fee and are accepted based on availability.
